Floyd Medical Center Adopts the Latest
Technology
from Patient Placement Systems
Nov. 9, 2004
While many hospitals around the nation
are just beginning to seek technology to improve patient
care and business operations, Floyd Medical Center in
Rome, Ga., is setting the pace for others to follow. The
award-winning Medical Center will soon implement the
latest in patient placement technology into its
innovative healthcare model, installing a web-based
system from Alpharetta, Ga.-based Patient Placement
Systems (PPS).
Patient Placement Systems is a web-based application
that connects hospitals, healthcare facilities and
service providers throughout the patient care continuum,
making the process of placing a patient from one
facility into another more secure, effective and timely.
From searching for the appropriate facility and
transferring confidential medical information, to
booking the vehicle to transport the patient and
transporting the patient, PPS makes the process of
placing patients completely streamlined, providing a
single online, real-time solution to the entire process.
The technology can help healthcare institutions reduce
length of stay and help discharge planners do their job
more effectively.
"One of the biggest problems that healthcare facilities
are tackling today is work flow," says Allison Land of
Floyd Medical Center. "Moving the patient efficiently
from in-hospital care to after-hospital care means
improved throughput, and allows us to serve even more
patients." Land adds, "At Floyd, our mission is to be
responsive to the communities we serve. We do this
through a comprehensive and technologically advanced
healthcare system that is committed to the delivery of
care characterized by continually improving quality,
accessibility, affordability and personal dignity." With
the installation of the PPS Network, Floyd will be able
to automate the entire process of placing patients into
other facilities and managing patients who require
continuing care following a hospital stay. The
healthcare facility will also be able to maintain HIPAA
compliance, protecting the privacy of patient's medical
records through the use of innovative technology.
"Floyd Medical Center, with its foresight and commitment
to quality care, is uniquely positioned to be a leader
in the area of workflow efficiency by fully automating
the process of moving a patient from in-hospital care to
a continuing care facility," said Shane Jackson,
President of Patient Placement Systems. "Floyd has the
ability to serve as an example of how the patient
placement process should and could work." Jackson
continues, "We are excited to have this opportunity to
partner with a healthcare institution that is dedicated
to providing comprehensive, technologically advanced
health care, and look forward to seeing Floyd's success
using the PPS Network."
Patient Placement Systems digitally connects the
hospital and other healthcare facilities involved in the
process of referring and transferring patients from one
facility to another through the PPS Network. The PPS
Network improves information flow and communication so
that each party involved in the transfer of a patient
has the information they need, when they need it. PPS is
built with Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) .Net. Learn more
