Baptist Princeton Chooses Patient Placement Systems to Expedite Patient Transfer Process

June 27, 2005

Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama, has joined the growing number of medical facilities who rely on Web-based technology from Patient Placement Systems in Alpharetta, Georgia, to expedite the patient transfer and placement process.

"We anticipate that PPS will be quite a time-saver when we implement the system next month," said Toni Uffinger, Princeton social work coordinator. "Not only is the system user-friendly; it also decreases the time spent on each case and provides tracking of our work. We'll be able to find the right level of care for the right patient at the right time. Advantages like these allow us to demonstrate our mission value of resourcefulness, and to better serve our health ministry."

Patient Placement Systems is a Web-based application that connects hospitals, healthcare facilities and service providers throughout the patient care continuum, making the process of referring and placing a patient who requires care after leaving the hospital more secure, effective and timely. From searching for the appropriate provider, to securely transferring confidential medical information, to arranging patient transport, PPS streamlines the patient placement process. The PPS online, real-time solution helps healthcare institutions reduce length of stay and helps discharge planners do their jobs more effectively.

Princeton Baptist is a 534-bed medical complex located near downtown Birmingham. The Princeton campus includes six medical buildings, 48 ICU beds and an emergency care department. The facility is also a teaching environment for such programs as the Auburn School of Pharmacy. Princeton is a part of Baptist Health System, Inc., the largest health care system in Alabama.

Patient Placement Systems digitally connects all parties involved in referring and transferring patients from one facility to another through the PPS Network. The PPS Network improves information flow and communication so each party involved in patient transfer has the information they need, when they needed it. PPS is a part of Jackson Healthcare Solutions family of companies. For more information about PPS, visitwww.patientplacement.com or call (800) 832-8397.
